phantom power

My parcel from arrived today, and its contents have been ripped to my iBook and are being listened to as I write this. No-one cares about this except me, but I care about it a lot.

It’s the new Super Furry Animals album Phantom Power, and it’s too early to have a firm opinion about it. But so far it seems a little more downbeat and personal, less epic in scope than Rings Around The World.

Also in the parcel was the new single Golden Retriever:

Hey! said the Devil
when I met her at the roundabout…

Thereby (as others have noted) neatly updating the location of the Robert Johnson blues creation myth for the 21st century…

… and I need to stop banging on about a band that I must surely be the only fan of in the whole of Wellington.
